The Singapore Formula 1 Night Race is scheduled for this month from 18th to 27th Sept, ’09. With 61 laps and a circuit length of 5.067 km, the race distance stands at 308.950 km. The circuit will be modified a bit to avoid mishaps such as those that occurred in 2008. For instance, the high curbs that caused accidents in 2008 will be re-designed. The tracks will be modified to allow overtaking. The race will be held around the Marina Bay area and preparations are already in full swing. There is a lot that happens behind the stage, especially since it is night event. Arrangements are being made for power supply, barriers at the turns to avoid accidents, fencing for more protection, a separate place for photographers, podium for cheerleaders and winners, re-profiling of the circuit, lighting arrangements, installation of projectors and large screens and much more.
