The Singapore Reggae Festival 2009

The first-ever Singapore Reggae Festival is a one day extravaganza, being held on November 28, 2009, with an adrenalin flow of live music to take you through the evening. This event will take place at Siloso Beach at Sentosa… a perfect setting for the Singapore Reggae Festival. The gently swaying palm trees, the balmy sea breeze and idyllic beach setting are totally in sync with the reggae culture and music. This event will showcase renowned reggae artists from Jamaica, Africa, London and South East Asia.

Artists such as Beenie Man, Coco Tea, Steel, Krazee Kulture, Bushmen, Pure Vibracion, Kai-jo Brothers, Jiang Liang and Ras Muhammad will be jammin’ through out the night. The event will also pay tribute to the late king of Reggae, Bob Marley, with a special appearance by Rita Marley singing “One Love” with all the artists.

Reggae is Jamaica’s largest cultural export, and since its humble beginnings from the ghettos of Kingston, reggae has grown to become a worldwide cultural and musical expression. There are reggae bands from every habitable continent of the world, and as with music from the Jamaican source, reggae is a vehicle to teach, uplift, and inspire.

The music that came from the ghettos has been the most powerful voice of the down-pressed, music that carries the cry from Trenchtown (the Kingston neighborhood so named for the open sewer trench) to the heavens. If you want to hear the heartbeat of The People, come and join the Singapore Reggae Festival!
